Artist Statement

I am a self-taught artist who began copying comics out of the Sunday

newspaper at age four. I work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels,

charcoal, pencil, and pen & ink.

I was born and raised in Mississippi ; and, as a high school senior, I won

first, second, and third prize in a statewide poster contest. After high

school, I exhibited in many venues, such as museums, libraries, and

banks; and I also sold at art shows. Although I continued to paint and

draw, my artistic career was put on hold when I married and had

children.

I began exhibiting again when I moved to Door County in 2005. My

favorite subjects are animals, sports, and landscapes and seascapes. I

also do people and pet portraits.

I am an avid animal lover and protector and live with two dogs, a

Boston Terrier and a Chinese Crested, and a guinea pig – Packer, Yogi,

and PeeWee. We all reside in Egg Harbor with my husband Jeff. I can
