"Keeper Of Shanty Bay"
Artist’s Statement

I love the nature and water scenes that are in Door County. Combine that with the changes of light on the surface of water and I am never at a loss for subjects. The Cana Island series came about when I was taking a group of visitors to the Cana Island Light house and decided that I wanted to climb to the top. As I turned around to go back down, I noticed a beautiful color shape on the wall inside the tower. The fact that the light in the prism is pure and it is reflecting on a surface and creating an all new visual to me was what the question of light was all about. I have loved painting the colors reflected by light on water, but this was an all new challenge for me. Because of this I have started combining my paintings with copper and wood to create composites instead of one individual canvas. I was born in Eau Claire WI, raised in Hawaii and the Midwest. I graduated with an Art Education major from UW Eau Claire and a Masters in Art from UW Madison. I have taught all grades for 35 years. I am represented by Charlene’s Gallery 10 in Gills Rock, and PKJ Designs in Ephraim and the Gallery of The Door County Art League in Fish Creek. MMy work is primarily in water based oils and watercolor.
